In 1996, Fox News began broadcasting extreme right propaganda labeled "fair and balanced" reporting.

Fox "News" today is little more than an advertising arm of the current White House administration. With a clear intent : disseminate false information to support a government administration that came to power under questionable circumstances; maintain a government administration that remains in power through more questionable circumstances; and disseminate false and misleading information to the American People to support that current [and questionable] government administration.

We, the American People, will no longer tolerate or support advertising or political propaganda in the guise of "news." We will no longer tolerate or accept the brainwashing of America. We will no longer tolerate or support any sponsor who financially supports or contributes to Fox News' continued and mis-labeled "journalistic" practices.

POPE WHAT?
by Andrew Schub

Bush and his administration count on the fact, as a people, Americans have poor long-term memory. And when Pope John Paul II died, the right-wing were all too happy to overlook the strong stance Pope John Paul II took AGAINST the "war" in Iraq. That was problematic while the Pope was alive. But after he died? Not a problem. He was one of their own.

Bush's administration claimed the dead leader of the Catholic Church as one of their own. Hey, they fought side by side, right? Except. Um. No they didn't. Pope John Paul II was AGAINST the war in Iraq. Hello?

Prior to Pope John Paul II's death, this was a problem for the Bush Administration, and Fox News, being a barking dog for the Bush administration, attacked that:

O'REILLY: "Well, wait a minute. Hear me out. We all know, everybody knows -- even Law knows. Everybody but the Pope, who's too senile to know, and I say that with all due respect. I don't think the Pope is lucid, I don't think he knows what's going on, and I say that because Law's been in Rome for five days, has not seen the Pope, has not even talked to the pope, and this is the worst scandal in a century... "

MEDIA MATTERS : THE POPE IS SENILE

Then the Pope died. And was the best friend of Bush's party. And. Bill O'Reilly.

During Fox News O'Reilly show [we use "show" liberally here, sorry] April 8, 2005, one of O'Reilly's listeners called him on his new found devotion to the Pope, reminding O'Reilly he once called the Pope "senile."

O'Reilly vehemently denied he ever said that.

The Bush administration is not only counting on our short term and long term memory being not intact. The Bush Administration is counting on us having no memory at all.
